CEBU, Philippines - Team Don Bosco Technology Center-Savio and the Cebu Dynamo FC stamped their respective classes in the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday in separate venues.
DBTC-Savio pulled off a resounding 2-0 win over Suba-Basbas to dominate the under-11 division at San Roque Parish field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Cyrus Franzuela delivered the goods for Don Bosco at the 31st and 33rd. For his consistency all throughout the tournament, he went on to bag the coveted MVP award.
The other individual awardees include Clyde Quitoy as best defender, Vitualla as best midfielder, Del Campo as best striker and Arnel Gallir as best goal keeper.
Earlier, Lahug FC-A claimed the third place honors without sweat as the Cebu International School players were out-of-town accordingly.
Over at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu pitch, the Cebu Dynamo FC ruled the mixed under-9 category with a masterful 4-0 beating of Consolacion FC.
Alexander Villarosa transformed himself into a one-man wrecking crew to score all four goals of Dynamo FC. He knocked in his first goal with just three minutes gone by in the game. The rest he unloaded at the 10th, 20th and 28th.
The MVP award though went to Villarosa's teammate Vince Kurt Niaga on account of his overall performance. Villarosa still has something to be happy about as he was honored as best striker, while his comrades Ken Marilao was the best defender and Lancelot Colinas the best midfielder. Consolacion FC's Vince Orbizo was crowned the best goal keeper. (FREEMAN)
