DILG to meet for smooth transition
CEBU, Philippines — As part of its preparations for the smooth turnover of local governance, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Cebu Provincial Office will convene a meeting to map out the first 100 days of the new leadership under Cebu Governor-elect Pamela “Pam” Baricuatro.
In an exclusive interview, DILG Cebu provincial director Jesus Robel Sastrillo Jr. confirmed that the upcoming on June 27 transition meeting will focus on charting the direction for key programs, policies, and priorities of the new administration.
“Mga what to do, naa man nay himuon like for example the issuance of executive orders, the organization of the local special bodies,” Sastrillo explained.
According to him, the discussion will be structured around four phases: transition, mobilization, planning and budgeting, and execution. He added that the presentation will cover major components and phases deemed crucial in guiding the incoming governor and her transition team during their first 100 days in office.
The June 27 meeting is a preparatory activity ahead of the turnover that will be on June 30 and executive briefing scheduled on July 3, 2025.
Sastrillo said that the briefing will serve to formally orient newly-elected provincial officials on the overall governance landscape of Cebu.
The executive briefing, to be held at 9:30 A.M., will include a detailed presentation of Cebu’s provincial profile and development sectors.
It will also tackle accomplishments of the outgoing administration, key performance indicators, and an executive summary of major governance milestones.
Aside from achievements, the briefing will also highlight major gaps and challenges that need to be addressed moving forward.
Sastrillo noted that this process is essential to ensure that the incoming administration can hit the ground running. He emphasized that preparations are on track for the transition and that a smooth and orderly turnover is expected on June 30, 2025.
“Actually, I expected a smooth and orderly transition this June 30, 2025,” he said confidently.
He also confirmed that the finalization of the program flow for the ceremonial turnover was conducted last June 23.
Inventories of all department heads related to properties and financial documents have already been completed. These include both immovable and movable assets of the Cebu Provincial Government.
Sastrillo added that these documents have been digitized to preserve records and facilitate future access.
He reaffirmed the DILG’s commitment to impartiality during the entire transition process.
“We maintain our impartiality as a national government agency and we expect a smooth, swift, and orderly ceremonial turnover of responsibility this coming June 30,” Sastrillo said. — (FREEMAN)
