Construction of new CCPO building set to push through
CEBU, Philippines — The construction of the Cebu City Police Office’s new building is set to proceed, said outgoing Mayor Raymond Garcia as Mayor-elect Nestor Archival said that projects from the previous administration will be finished if budget is enough.
Despite his defeat in the recently-concluded mid-term elections, Garcia reaffirmed his commitment to the construction of the new CCPO headquarters.
During a visit to Camp Sotero Cabahug, Garcia clarified that the construction which is funded with ?50 million has already been awarded to a contractor with a notice to proceed, ensuring the project is in motion.
“They will have to proceed. Now, the only reason og dili mo-proceed is if the next administration will cancel the contract for some reason. But, you know, there will already be liabilities involved,” he said.
Garcia led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new CCPO headquarters last February 26.
Mayor-elect Nestor Archival has also assured that he will strive to complete all projects initiated by the previous administration, provided there is sufficient funding.
“Yeah, of course, whatever projects nga nasugdan ni Mayor Garcia ako ‘ning paninguhaon nga mahuman... Kadtong gisulti ni Mayor (Garcia) I will support sa mga projects nga iyang nasugdan,” said Archival through the city’s PIO.
Archival, however, pointed out that they just have to consider the budget.
“Unya ang ato lang restraint dinhi ang ato g’yung budget, kay wa pa man ko kahibawo kung ang atong budget enough pa pag-fund sa tanang projects,” Archival added. (CEBU NEWS)
