CCPO intensifies anti-crime drive
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has rolled out another rounds of “Oplan Bulabog” across all 80 barangays of Cebu City as part of its bold and sustained campaign to strengthen public safety and community discipline.
The series of operations highlight the city police's unwavering commitment to crime prevention, ordinance enforcement, and community engagement.
The most recent iteration of the campaign was conducted on the night of May 15, 2025, extending into the early hours of May 16, and was dubbed a “One Time, Big Time” (OTBT) operation.
A total of 173 police personnel from Police Stations 4, 5, and 7 were deployed, along with barangay officials, Barangay Peacekeeping Safety Officers (BPSOs), and other support units from partner law enforcement and community safety agencies.
Led by PCOL Enrico E. Figueroa, Acting City Director of CCPO, the operation targeted known hotspots for ordinance violations and potential criminal activity, with special consideration given to the timing—a payday Friday night—when public gatherings and street activity are notably high.
From 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM, the CCPO conducted checkpoints, roving patrols, and community dialogues. The operation resulted in the following: 16 traffic citations issued; 34 minors rescued for curfew violations; 15 individuals apprehended for smoking in public; 18 individuals caught drinking in public; and 25 individuals flagged for loitering without purpose.
Despite the number of violations recorded, no arrests were made, highlighting the CCPO’s preventive and community-oriented approach to policing.
"This is more than just enforcement—it's a show of unity between the police and the people. Our presence on the ground is a clear signal that Cebu City prioritizes peace, safety, and public discipline," said Figueroa.
The operation is in line with the directive of PBGEN Redrico A. Maranan, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 7, which calls for heightened police visibility, community engagement, and proactive law enforcement, especially during periods identified as high-risk for public safety. (CEBU NEWS)
