CEBU, Philippines — Over P8.2 million worth of suspected shabu have been seized during a series of coordinated anti-drug operations conducted by the operatives of Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 within 24 hours.

The biggest seizures were recorded in Cebu City, where two separate buy-bust operations yielded a combined total of 900 grams of shabu valued at P6.1 million.

According to PRO-7, the first major operation occurred at 8:35 p.m. on April 25 along Figueroa Street, Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City. Police arrested a 22-year-old high-value target during a buy-bust operation led by operatives from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Police Station 6. Authorities confiscated 500.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P3,403,400.

Just two hours later, at 10:50 p.m., a second operation was carried out in Sitio Sinulog, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City. A joint team from the CCPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 seized 400 grams of suspected shabu valued at P2,720,000. They also recovered P250 in cash and several pieces of drug paraphernalia.

In a separate operation in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, operatives from the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and the Consolacion Municipal Police Station arrested another high-value target. They confiscated 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P680,000.

“These operations are a direct result of our strengthened intelligence work and regional coordination. We remain steadfast in our mission to rid Central Visayas of the drug menace," said PBGen Redrico Maranan, Regional Director of PRO-7, in a Facebook post.

All arrested suspects will face charges under Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO-7 reiterated its commitment to proactive and sustained operations aimed at dismantling drug networks across the region. — (FREEMAN)
