LTO-7’s road safety drive nets close to 200 violators
CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office-7 concluded its "Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2025" road safety campaign on Tuesday, April 22, during which hundreds of motorists were issued temporary operator's permits for various traffic violations.
According to LTO-7 Regional Director Glen G. Galario, the agency's comprehensive operation, conducted from April 11 to 22, 2025, resulted in the issuance of 68 manual temporary operator's permits and 93 electronic temporary operator's permits.
Data shows that the most common violation was Republic Act 4136, or the violation of the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, followed by Republic Act 8750, or the Seat Belts Use Act.
Three utility vans operating illegally as colorum vehicles were also impounded.
During the 12-day operation, LTO-7 inspected a total of 2,153 motor vehicles and motorcycles in both terminal and roadside inspections.
Based on data released by the agency, 114 vehicles failed the inspection, with the majority being public utility buses, accounting for 76 vehicles.
Galario said their intensified enforcement operations aim to promote road safety and discipline among motorists, particularly during peak travel seasons like Holy Week and summer vacation, when more people are on the road.
Galario added that the results reflect the agency's commitment to ensuring motorists adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
“The significant number of apprehensions serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize safety on the road, especially during peak travel seasons,” said Galario in a statement. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
