Duterte supporters hold caravan vs impeachment

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte paraded around the main roads of Cebu's tri-cities and neighboring towns for a people s caravan led by Hakbang ng Maisug Cebu yesterday.

Ernest  Jun  Abines, event spokesperson and one of the core group of Hakbang ng Maisug Cebu, said that the event was successful, and his group hopes that this will trickle down to the other parts of the country.

Ang Cebu ang nag-una. We hope ang uban followers ni Inday Sara all over the country magpahigayon pud sila og people s caravan,  Abines said.

Abines said the people s caravan aims to send a message to the Marcos Administration that the group is against the impeachment of the vice president and corruption in the government.

Abines said around 150 four-wheeled vehicles and 300 motorcycles joined the caravan, which started at 7 a.m. and ended at 1 p.m.

The caravan kicked off in Mandaue City, proceeded to the towns of Consolacion and Liloan then headed back to Mandaue. From Mandaue, the group headed to the cities of Cebu and Talisay and returned to Mandaue where they conducted a noise barrage before parting ways.

Nag caravan ra ta. No program kay maglisud mi kuha og permit to rally for a program kay mga local government unit sa Cebu mahadlok man mohatag og permit kay kuyawan mao na sad niya ang ma-suspenso,  said Abines.

He admitted that the caravan causes some traffic congestion in areas where they passed by.

Na traffic gyud pero kapila sad naputol ang caravan, mga ika lima tingali naputol kay inug stop sa stop light, mohunong man gyud,  said Abines.

Abines said that yesterday's caravan was just a start as his group plans to have another caravan next month, where they hoped to gather more participants.

Abines said that the caravan was initiated voluntarily, and they were just exercising their right to expression.

Daghan na gyud mga tawo wa nakauyon sa ilang gibuhat ni Vice President Sara. It's about time ipakita nato atong suporta niya physically dili lang kutob sa social media and noise sa social media. Dapat naa gyud concrete action,  Abines said.  JG (CEBU NEWS)
