Police, government agencies sign solidarity pact

CEBU, Philippines — As the campaign period for national candidates, such as senators and partylist groups, kicked off yesterday, the Police Regional Office-7 together with other government agencies led by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), launched a simultaneous Solidarity Pact signing for the 2025 National and Local Elections and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections in Cebu City.

Among the government agencies that signed the agreement were the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, Department of Health, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Department of Public Works and Highways, and others.

The said government pledged to strengthen collaborative efforts to uphold peace and safeguard the integrity of democracy during the 2025 national elections and BARMM Parliamentary Election.

“We stand together, from across all the regions, sectors and communities, we commit in solidarity to ensure a secure, accurate, free, and fair elections by promoting peace and order, upholding the rule of law, fostering unity and civic responsibility in protecting the right to vote of every Filipino, thus, rejecting all forms of hate and misinformation that could undermine the unity and harmony of our nation,” part of their pledge read.

With this pledge, they said that they reaffirm their shared objective of a peaceful, just, and democratic Philippines where every Filipino, regardless of creed and culture, is empowered to make each voice heard through the election process.

“Together, we shall, rise in solidarity shall be a reflection of our democratic values and a testament to the strength and unity of the Filipino people,” the pledge further read.

The Coast Guard District Central Visayas, represented by its deputy commander, Commander Adonis Añasco, assured that the CGDCV remains committed to upholding its mandate in securing the maritime domain and supporting inter-agency efforts to maintain peace, order, and democracy in the region.

During the program, government agencies also reaffirmed their commitment to upholding democratic principles by signing the Solidarity Pledge, which denounces misinformation, electoral violence, and other threats to the integrity of the electoral process.   BRP (CEBU NEWS)
