P98 million drugs seized last month

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-7 has reported seizing ?98.4 million worth of illegal drugs last January as part of its operations.

From January 1 to 31, 2025, PRO-7 confiscated 14,471.34 grams of shabu valued at ?98,406,682, along with 25 grams of marijuana.

During that period, various police units under PRO-7 conducted 678 operations against illegal drugs, leading to the arrest of 787 people linked to drug-related activities.

These operations consisted of 443 buy-busts, 168 police responses, 25 service warrants, and 42 checkpoints. There were no reported fatalities throughout this period.

PRO-7 regional director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan said this proves law enforcement’s dedication in its fight against illegal drugs, unlicensed firearms, illegal gambling, and wanted individuals.

Maranan mentioned that among those detained, 54 were identified as high-value targets, 517 were street-level suspects, and 216 were newly-recognized individuals.

Maranan said that the coordinated improvement of police operations with the active support of the community is PRO-7’s strategic method for fighting against all types of criminality.   BRP (CEBU NEWS)
