Anti-crime group eyed for Talisay City

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Police Station chief Superintendent Germano Mallari is planning to organize an anti-crime volunteers group that will serve as force multipliers to help police authorities to suppress crimes in the city.

Mallari said the force multipliers will include barangay tanods, non-government organizations, and civilians. He said he had long been planning to organize anti-crime volunteer group but financial constraints is preventing him.

Mallari said he needs funds to train the volunteers before they can be utilized in law enforcement operations.

"Financial tungod kay ang mga tawo nga pangkuhaon nga himuon ug force multiplier ipaubos pa man ug mga seminars and trainings kun diin nagkinahanglan kini og budget," Mallari said.

 The police official is hoping that mayor-elect Eduardo Gullas will help him in his plan like what the local government unit of Bogo City is doing.

 "Pareha sa Bogo City nga ang ilang mga force multiplier gihimo gyud og mga job order nga gisuweldohan sa LGU. Kana pud sila i-train na sa tanang matang sa alarma labi na sa mga disaster," Mallari said.

 Mallari is also asking the incoming mayor for support to the members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team by providing motorcycles. He said the city police had long been requesting for motorcycles from outgoing Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes.

Mallari said motorcycles are needed by SWAT members to effectively respond to alarms.

"Ang mga criminal kasagaran mogamit og motor nga dali ra nga makalusot-lusot busa kun naa pud tay motor sa police dako nga purohan nga sila magukdan gyud," Mallari said.

 Mallari said the city police need at least six motorcycles. —(FREEMAN)
