CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead by a lone assailant in Barangay Pasil yesterday morning.
Victim Jasper Nacar Rosas, 35, jobless and a resident of Sitio Lawis, Barangay Mambaling, died of a gunshot wound to his head.
Initial investigation conducted by the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) revealed that Rosas was walking with two male companions around 8 a.m. in Garfield Street in Barangay Pasil when the suspect arrived and shot him without a word.
The suspect was reportedly wearing a bonnet to hide his face.
Despite getting hit on the forehead, Rosas still reportedly managed to run towards the interior portion of the area before he slumped to the ground.
Residents in the area rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center, but Rosas was declared dead on arrival.
SPO2 Teodoro Lumanas of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSIU) recovered a deformed slug and an empty shell of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
SPO4 Rey Cuyos, head investigator in the case, said residents in the area were uncooperative when asked for information about the shooting.
“Di gyod manug-an ang mga tawo didto (The people won’t say anything),†Cuyos said.
Cuyos said they are still facing a blank wall as to the motive of the incident.
He said they are yet to look into the victim’s background including why he was in Barangay Pasil at that time. – (FREEMAN)
