RHR enters Siargao market with new eco-luxury resort
CEBU, Philippines — Robinsons Hotels & Resorts (RHR), the hospitality division of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), has broken ground on Summit Villas Siargao, a new eco-luxury resort that marks the group’s strategic entry into one of the Philippines’ fastest-emerging tourism destinations.
Slated to open in 2026, Summit Villas Siargao will be developed by Hira Holdings Inc. through contractor Mega Mykon Builders, and operated under the RHR’s upscale Summit Hotels and Resorts brand.
The property will feature 18 standalone tropical-style villas, each designed with private amenities and sustainability-centered architecture, underscoring both RHR and Hira Holdings’ commitment to environmentally responsible tourism.
“This development is more than a hospitality expansion — it’s a celebration of Siargao’s natural charm and cultural energy,” said Barun Jolly, Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager of Robinsons Hotels & Resorts.
“We’re proud to bring the Summit brand’s distinctive blend of style, service, and Filipino excellence to this rising destination.”
Strategically located near Siargao’s iconic Cloud 9 surfing spot and the well-known “Tourism Road,” the resort will cater to the premium segment of both local and international travelers seeking elevated experiences in the island paradise.
“Summit Villas Siargao reflects our broader strategy to grow within key leisure markets and contribute meaningfully to the tourism ecosystem,” noted Jolly adding that the RHR is seeing a sustained surge in demand for quality hospitality offerings in Siargao, “and this project is designed to meet that opportunity head-on.”
For RHR, the project extends its Summit brand portfolio beyond urban business hubs into high-growth leisure markets.
Meanwhile, for Hira Holdings Inc., the venture signifies its first foray into the hospitality industry.
“We are deeply optimistic about the long-term tourism potential of Siargao,” said Seth Hiranand, Managing Director of Hira Holdings.
“This development is not only a business milestone for us but a strong commitment to sustainable and community-aligned growth on the island,” Hiranand added.
In a nod to corporate social responsibility, Hira Holdings also announced a partnership with Malinao Elementary School, which will serve as the local green hub for the resort’s forthcoming sustainability programs.
The project comes as Siargao continues to see a surge in tourist arrivals, prompting increased interest from hospitality players.
With post-pandemic recovery gaining traction, industry leaders have underscored the need to balance development with environmental stewardship to ensure long-term viability.
Robinsons Hotels & Resorts currently operates the largest hospitality network in the Philippines, with over 30 properties and 5,000 rooms nationwide. Renowned for its diverse brand portfolio, RHR remains focused on innovation, guest satisfaction, and sustainable operations anchored in Filipino hospitality.
As global travel rebounds and secondary island destinations rise in popularity, RHR’s entry into Siargao signals growing investor confidence in the island’s transformation into a world-class travel destination.
In a separate earlier interview with ?Department of Tourism-Caraga regional director Ivonnie B. Dumadag, she said that Siargao needs contemporary accommodations.
To date, Siargao has a total of 1,270 hotel/resort rooms provided by the 148 DOT-accredited establishments.
Dumadag however, reminded that while fresh developments and investments are welcome, a serious implementation of sustainable resort operation is important.
“Our challenge for the resort[s] is to ensure their operations will support sustainable tourism in Siargao,” stressed Dumadag, adding that what Siargao needs right now is to host green hotels.
