PropTech hosts 2-day real estate hackathon

CEBU, Philippines — PropTech Philippines, a leading advocate for real estate technology in the country, is set to host Hackestate: Hackathon 2025, a two-day innovation sprint aimed at solving real-world challenges in the real estate and events industries through digital solutions.
The pioneering event, taking place starting today (April 14 to 15) at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City, is organized in partnership with Filipino Homes, the country’s largest real estate service network.
The hackathon is open to student teams who will compete by developing web-based applications focused on creativity, user experience, and real-world applicability.
“This is more than just a competition—it’s a platform for innovation,” said Anthony Gerard Leuterio, CEO of PropTech Philippines and founder of Filipino Homes.
“We believe in investing in start-ups and nurturing new ideas. The future is digital, and we are committed to helping young talents create solutions that will move the real estate industry forward,” he added.
Winning teams will receive cash prizes of P30,000, P20,000, and P10,000 for first, second, and third place, respectively.
Unlike traditional coding contests, Hackestate encourages participants to take a deep dive into real estate challenges—analyzing problems, identifying root causes, and developing practical, tech-driven solutions.
The event also serves as a career springboard, offering students the opportunity to collaborate with professionals, network with potential employers, and gain exposure to industry trends.
“This is a rare opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas, and learn from mentors already shaping the future of Philippine real estate,” Leuterio noted.
A total of 13 Cebu-based universities are set to participate in the event, including the University of Cebu, University of San Carlos, University of the Visayas, University of San Jose–Recoletos, University of Southern Philippines Foundation, University of the Philippines Cebu, and University of Cebu – Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, among others.
PropTech Philippines, a key affiliate of the Filipino Homes Group of Companies, also promotes global exposure by regularly sending teams to international competitions across Asia, ensuring local innovators remain attuned to regional trends and best practices.
According to Leuterio the 2025 edition of Hackestate bridges technology and real estate, empowering the next generation of tech-savvy professionals to reshape the industry landscape.
As part of its commitment to global learning, PropTech Philippines and Filipino Homes also regularly send teams to international competitions across Asia, ensuring that Filipino talent is always exposed to regional trends, innovations and best practices. — (FREEMAN)
