CEBU, Philippines — Independent renewable energy (RE) provider First Gen Corporation (First Gen) has partnered with Belmont One Group and its real estate arm, Fuzion Land, to advance clean energy adoption in Cebu.

A ceremonial signing was recently held to formalize the partnership, with key executives in attendance, including Belmont One Group President Chester Lim, CEO Josiefe Lim, and First Gen’s Cebu Dispatch Office Head, Ramon Corro.

Under the agreement, First Gen will supply Belmont One Group with 750 kilowatts of electricity sourced from geothermal energy. This will power the Belmont One commercial complex in Minglanilla, Cebu—a 3.5-hectare mixed-use development that houses Anjo World Theme Park, retail outlets, dining establishments, and event facilities.

Anjo World, the largest integrated family entertainment complex in the Visayas and Mindanao, will benefit from the transition to clean energy, reducing its environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency.

“We are committed to continuous innovation and the adoption of more efficient, forward-thinking solutions in our operations. Since January 2016, we have actively pursued renewable energy initiatives and explored ways to increase our reliance on stable, sustainable power sources,” said Chester Lim, President of Anjo World and Belmont One.

“By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only optimizing our energy costs but also making significant strides toward achieving our sustainability goals,” Lim added.

Belmont One has been a pioneer in renewable energy adoption, with sustainability efforts dating back to 2015 when it installed an initial 200-kilowatt solar energy system at its Mandaue branch, later expanding it to 220 kilowatts in 2023. The company also actively supports the Philippine Retailers Association’s (PRA-Cebu) green packaging campaign as part of its broader decarbonization strategy.

Beyond the power supply agreement, First Gen, through its sister company Pi Energy Inc., will equip Belmont One with a remote energy monitoring system, enabling real-time tracking of electricity consumption, particularly for the theme park and retail establishments.

“Theme parks have significant power demands, and their operations can impact the environment. However, they also play a crucial role in driving local economic growth,” said Arlene Sy, Head of Power Sales and Marketing at First Gen.

“Through our partnership with Belmont One, we are helping Anjo World transition to cleaner energy, aligning with our mission to accelerate the country’s shift to sustainable power sources,” Sy added.

First Gen operates a fleet of 28 renewable energy power plants across the Philippines, generating up to 1,651 megawatts (MW) from solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal facilities. It also has 2,017 MW of capacity from four natural gas plants, serving as a bridge fuel to support the country’s transition toward greater renewable energy integration.

The partnership underscores both companies’ long-term sustainability goals, reinforcing their shared vision of reducing carbon footprints and maximizing energy efficiency through clean energy solutions.
