eOBO system streamlines permit processing in Naga

CEBU, Philippines — The Visayan Electric Company and the City of Naga, Cebu have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement the eOBO system, a digital platform for electrical permit connections.
Signed by Visayan Electric chief operating officer (COO) Engr. Raul Lucero, and City of Naga Mayor Valdemar M. Chiong, the eOBO System aims to enhance efficiency by digitalizing the permit application process.
This means that, customers applying for electrical connections with Visayan Electric will no longer need to submit duplicate documents, such as proof of ownership, that were previously provided to the City’s Office of the Building Official (OBO).
This streamlined approach addresses persistent issues like the proliferation of fake electrical permits, ensuring public safety and boosting the City of Naga's revenue through legitimate permitting.
“This partnership with the City of Naga emphasizes our commitment to enhancing customer experience, ensuring community safety, and driving progress," said Lucero.
According to Lucero, the system promotes transparency and could serve as a model for similar innovations in other areas.
Mayor Chiong expressed optimism about the initiative, which underscores the City of Naga and Visayan Electric's shared goal of delivering customer-focused solutions through digital transformation.
By implementing the eOBO System, both parties aim to empower residents and businesses to access reliable electricity more efficiently, marking a significant step forward in public service and community development. — (FREEMAN)
