Eala dominates Italian foe to move forward in Eastbourne Open

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is barging into the next round of the WTA Lexus Eastbourne Open, sweeping Lucia Bronzetti, 6-0, 6-1, Monday evening (Manila time) in Great Britain.
Eala, who punched a ticket to the main draw through the qualifiers, showcased her dominance against her Italian opponent.
The Filipina punched in 25 receiving points won compared to Bronzetti’s nine.
She also won 30 service points to her foe’s 16, including seven service games.
It was likewise an error-filled performance for Bronzetti, as she also recorded four double faults.
The World No. 77 tennister will now face either Sonay Kartal or third-seeded Jelena Ostapenko, whom Eala defeated in her magical Miami Open run earlier in the year, in the tourney’s round of 16.
Eala earlier beat Zeynep Sonmez and Hailey Baptiste in the qualifiers.
