PLDT ends Creamline’s amazing run
MANILA, Philippines — PLDT halted Creamline’s historic streak with a pulse-pounding 30-28, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 16-14 victory yesterday that catapulted the former back inside the top four in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The High Speed Hitters leaned on their rock-solid defense to notch their seventh win against three defeats, and hand the Cool Smashers their first loss after 19 straight wins, including nine in this conference.
PLDT continued to have Creamline’s numbers as the former had won their last three prelims encounters including one each in last year’s All-Filipino and Reinforced Conferences.
And Savi Davison was at the center of it all as she uncorked a masterful 34-point game that she spliced with 29 attacks and five blocks.
“I’m so glad my team held out in the fifth set,” said Davison.
Earlier, red-hot Petro Gazz nailed its eighth win in a row at the expense of Galeries Tower, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22.
Myla Pablo came through with another strong effort and unloaded a match-best 17 points while Brooke Van Sickle and Aiza Pontillas scattered 15 and 12 hits, respectively, as the Angels streaked to their ninth win in 10 outings overall.
“Mindset namin manalo talaga this game,” said Pablo.
