Altas, Knights reach semis

MANILA, Philippines — Higher-seeded squads University of the Perpetual Help System Dalta and Wangs Basketball @27 Strikers-Letran eliminated PSP and Centro Escolar U in one attempt yesterday to advance to the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup semifinals at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The No. 3 Altas fended off the sixth-ranked Gymers, 97-90, while the fourth-seeded Knights hacked out a 94-87 comeback win in overtime over the No. 5 Scorpions to maximize their twice-to-beat incentives.

Perpetual will face off with No. 2 seed and reigning champion EcoOil-La Salle as Letran rekindles its old rivalry against No. 1 Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda in the best-of-three semifinals starting tomorrow.
