MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle-Zobel drew big games from Miko Granada as it pooled a 302 to bag the overall championship in the Division 2 of the JGFP-TJGL Inter-School Golf Championship 2016 in various championship courses recently.
Granada turned in his top three scores of 57, 56 and 52 for a 165-point total while Masaichi Otake, Miguel Ilas and Rafa Ilas provided solid backup as DLSZ assembled a 302 to claim this year’s championship in the Developmental Division of the annual event co-organized and conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and The Junior Golfers League.
British School Manila failed to sustain a strong start and blew its bid for a second championship in the annual three-month tournament among junior golfers aged 4-18 held at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club, Southlinks Golf Club, Capitol Hills Golf and Country Club, Philippine Army Golf Course, Eastridge Golf Club and the Philippine Navy Golf Club.
Composed of Reese Ng, Armand Copok, Brett Ng and Lousie Tombs, the BSM team put in a 280 for second but vowed to fight back and reclaim the crown next year.
MCA Montessori School’s Josh Jorge, Monica Mandario and Teresa Agdamag placed third with a 271 aggregate while Mariel Tee and Tomi Arejola powered St. Paul College Pasig to fourth with a 267 total. Assumption College San Lorenzo, led by sisters Mikaela and Monique Arroyo, made a 264 to finish fifth in the 30-team competition.
Xavier School’s Kyle Ng nipped teammate Ethan Co in sudden death to snare the Mini Boys’ crown. With Dustin Recto, Xavier wound up sixth overall while International School Manila, made up of Martin Alindogan, Miguel Garcia, Ammanuel Santiago and Trevor Yu, ended up seventh with a 244 and Everest Academy’s Kyle Ynson, Stevie Umali, Juan Jaime Jose III and Nathan Ynson took the last team award with a 242.
The TJGL will resume the Fourth Quarter School Season Series today at Southlinks Golf Club.
