Ginebra import Lowhorn plays cameo role in NBA 2K14

MANILA, Philippines – Brgy. Ginera Kings’ import Dior Lowhorn did a cameo role in the much-awaited video game NBA 2K14.

Lowhorn, who last played for the Saigon Heat in the Asean Basketball League, told the ABL website that he was invited to help simulate the various NBA players’ moves in the latest 2K Sports’ installment of the successful video game franchise which will have Miami Heat’s Lebron James on the cover.

“Well, the 2K13 studio is 30 minutes north of San Francisco.  Since they can’t always get the NBA players to simulate the video games, they call up local basketball players to help mock various NBA player moves – from shooting, dunking, dribbling, defense and post moves,” Lowhorn said.

The 230-lb San Francisco native added that he was happy to be part of the NBA 2K14 which is set for worldwide released on October 1.

“The motion capturing takes all day, but it’s a lot of fun, and I even got a free copy of the game, although I’m not much of a video gamer,” Lowhorn said.

Lowhorn has played under the legendary coach Bob Knight at Texas Tech University in his freshman year. He transferred to University of San Francisco where he broke Boston Celtic great and Hall of Famer Bill Russell’s record of being the fastest player in the team history to reach 1,000 points.

Like Petron Blaze Boosters’ incoming import Elijah Millsap, Lowhorn also went undrafted in the NBA in 2010 Rookie Draft.

The 26-year old Lowhorn went on to play in Belgium before finding home in Asia where he intends to return to the ABL after the season-ending Governors’ Cup in the PBA.

In 12 games with the Heat last ABL season, Lowhorn led the league in scoring with 26.7 points while averaging 8.4 rebounds with single-highs of 35 points and 15 boards against the Westsports Malaysia Dragons.

According to San Miguel Corporation sports director Noli Eala, Lowhorn will arrive in the country on July 13. The Kings will resume practice two days after Lowhorn’s arrival.
