MANILA, Philippines - The first provincial sorties of Milo-sponsored Checkmate summer chess clinics will begin in Dagupan City on April 1, then go to Cabuyao, Laguna and San Pablo City on April 10 before shifting to Tarlac on April 13.
The venues and schedule: Nepo Mall, Dagupan (Apr. 1-3, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.); Angels in Heaven School at #138 Bonifacio St., Cabuyao (Apr. 10-12, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.); Ultimart Shopping Plaza at M. Paulino St., San Pablo (Apr. 10-12, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) and P.O. Domingo Montessori School at Poblacion Sur, Paniqui, Tarlac (Apr. 13-15, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).
The chess learning and play activity consists of 16-hour lessons and three hours of competition. Courses offered are for preparatory, beginners and intermediate levels. Medals await the winners in the competition. Certificates of participation are given to all participants, courtesy of sponsoring Milo, the No. 1 energy drink.
The second batch of provincial classes will be held at Canossa Academy in Lipa City May 3-5 and at Megacenter The Mall in Cabanatuan City May 6-9.
All summer enrollees are entitled to join the selection for the members of Team Checkmate bound to US, Canada and Australia.
