MANILA, Philippines - Ukrainian Igor Subora crowned himself the new URCC heavyweight champion by stopping Ryan Paglinawan in just 49 seconds of the first round in the Universal Reality Combat Championship-Colt 45 XX at the World Trade Center in Pasay over the weekend.
The massive 6-foot-3, 250-pounder Subora battered Paglinawan in their two-round, 10-minute each contest with heavy blows to the head and body to register the fastest win in the 10-bout affair.
Surprisingly, all 10 matches ended in the first round.
Australian Nicholas Mann also emerged as the new light-heavyweight champion with a referee stoppage victory over Chris Luna (4:59) while Red Romero dethroned bantamweight champion Jessie Rafols via a tap out (5:27) in the event co-presented by Tribal and backed Frenzy Condoms, Chris Sports, Anzahl Paints, Yoshinoya, VRP Medical Center and World Trade Center.
Other winners were Froilan Sarenas, who retained his middleweight title over Dexter Mistades also via a referee stoppage (1:42), while Honorio Banario kept his lightweight crown after beating Patrick Manicad by armbar (3:09).
Another fighter who stood out was Will Chope as he scored a standing guillotine choke over Jerson Estorio (3:07), while Pete Brooks won by a tap out over Frank Navarro and Rodel Orais outlasted Jilmar Tangayan in the first fight of the night.
Andrew Benibe also fashioned out a referee stoppage over Sulpiano Laurio and Adam Cacay over Lando Espinosa by rear naked choke (1:23).
