Chase for Sweet 16 berths up as PCCL Manila elims unfolds

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Metro Manila Qualifying games start today at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan with two seats at stake in the Sweet 16 finals of the 2011 National Collegiate Championship.

University of Manila, perennial NAASCU champion, will take on the TIP Engineers, the newly crowned winner of ISAA, in the 2 p.m. opening game while National U and Lyceum slug it out at 4 p.m.

Action resumes tomorrow with Centro Escolar U, NMCAA champion, taking on UCLAAI winner St. Francis of Assissi in the first game and La Salle colliding with NCAA fifth placer Mapua.

All the games are “knock-out” affairs with the winners in the two-day elims knocking each other out on Nov. 10 with the top two teams joining the other squads in the Sweet 16 stage.

General admission is free while tickets for the reserved seats and for the VIP box seats are available at the gates of FilOil Flying V Arena and at SM Ticket outlets at SM Cinema and online at SM Ticket website.
