MANILA, Philippines - William Tan tries to cap the Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring (GT) season with another win as he shoots for the overall Driver of the Year plum at the Clark International Speedway this weekend.
Way ahead of the field with 270 points, Tan goes for a sweep in his final showdown with Mike Tuason, who grabbed second overall with 192 points despite missing action in the last leg of the race sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Yokohama Tires, Pagcor Sports, Aeromed, Chequered Flag, and Stoplight TV.
Tan is also eyeing the GT200 class crown where he also leads with 295 points.
Dennis Uy and Joey Pery tote 139 and 101 points, respectively, as they brace for a showdown for runner-up honors in GT200 event.
Meanwhile, booth displays, the acoustic band show on Saturday night and the Vitz Cup, featuring Enersel Forte drivers Glenn Aguilar and Sel-J president Jay Lacnit, are also on tap.
Tuason is also vying for the GT300 plum against Leo San Juan, Jeffrey Villanueva, Tetsuya Omura, Ramil Madriaga, Charlie Cruz, Richard Gopez and Ayrton Nigel Cuesta.
Ford Focus-TRS Racing teammates Sean Redpath and Marcus Wong will also dispute the GT125 title. Redpath holds the top spot with 123 points with Wong pooling 115 points.
Other drivers to watch are IRM-SEAOIL-Light Speed-Velocity Motors drivers Mark Desales and Dominic Uy, Ford Focus-TRS Racing bets Ding Dizon and Bobby Horrigan, Dean Joson, Juny Binamira, Stefan Ramirez de Arellano, Miguel Ramirez and Arnel Carlos who finished second in both the Sprint and Main Race at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
