MANILA, Philippines - The Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club will host 150 member-guest teams starting tomorrow when the much-awaited 2010 Liberica Golf Invitational fires off at the scenic Mount Makulot, Malipunyo and Lobo courses in Lipa City, Batangas.
This year’s committee is headed by Dr. Avito “Tobee” Nicanor, with the valuable support of his fellow Batangueños.
The participants, who will vie for a brand-new BMW and Texas Eagle and Club Car golf carts at stake as hole-in-one prizes, will be classified into three groups according to handicaps.
They will play for two days via the best ball and two-man scramble formats.
In the best ball, each player plays his own ball until he holes out. The lower net score of the team per hole will be counted. In the scramble, each player tees off on each hole. They choose a tee shot and both players play their second shots from that spot.
Also up for grabs are a round-trip ticket with accommodations for two to Korea from Kia Lipa and P50,000 cash from Jetstar Feeds.
The event has Woodheights, Resort and Spa as the main sponsor, Active Group Inc., Solar Farm, MJ Carr Golf Management and Stradcom as major sponsors and committee chair Dr. Tobee Nicanor, Toyota Batangas, Inc., YKK Philippines, Inc., Mount Carmel Rural Bank, Auto-X, Siete Barakos Coffee and Doc’s Candles as backers.
Seventy-five teams will play tomorrow and the next 75 on Saturday.
The entire field tees off double shotgun style on all 27 holes.
