BEST clinics get going in Ateneo, SBC

April becomes the busiest month for the Best Center (Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training) as Ateneo and San Beda College host morning and afternoon clinics for basketball and volleyball starting today.

Volleyball clinics in Ateneo will be held Tuesdays and Fridays, from April 1-25 from 8:30-11 a.m. while basketball clinics in Level 1 (12-years and above) and Levels 3 and 5 will also be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

San Beda College, meanwhile, will hold introductory basketball clinics on the same dates for children 5-8 years old, and Level 1 (9-and-above) from 8-11:30 a.m. Courses in Levels 1-3 and 4 are also being offered.

Best Center, however, will not limit its courses in schools as Britanny Neopolitan Village in Fairview will also conduct Levels 1-2 clinics from April 1-25 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Introductory courses and Levels 1-2-3 clinics are also being offered in Christ the King seminary from 1-4 p.m., also from April 1-25.

A select field of Best Center players will also leave for the United States to compete in the Shoosh basketball tournament, sanctioned by the Youth Basketball of America from April 3-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“These are the future of Philippine basketball. These youth are just some of the crème of the crop and these names will soon rise among the big names of the sport in the future,” said Nic Jorge, former national coach and founder of the Best Center, which was recently name into the Hall of Fame during the prestigious Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards.

The Best Center team will also go on a series of exhibition games against other youth teams in the US, particularly those from the Los Angeles area.

Leading the team, aside from Jorge, are 16-under coach Ato Badolato, 15-under coach Britt Renoma, 12-under coach Peque Tan and assistant Angelica Fedilaga.
