Pacquiao fans, mayor donate to family of fallen boxer

GENERAL SANTOS – Worldwide fans of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao have donated P50,000 to the family of the late Koronadal boxer Angelito "Lito" Sisnorio Jr. who died several hours after he lost to former Thai world champion Chatchai Sasakul in Bangkok March 30.

Reynaldo Constantino, Pacquiao’s political ally, said financial assistance from the fund would be immediately released to the bereaved family of Sisnorio, whose remains arrived here on Good Friday on board a Philippine Airlines flight and immediately brought to his hometown.

"This money is only part of the fund being raised by the Pacland community timely organized by the boxing aficionados worldwide to help the family of the fallen boxer," Constantino said.

The Pacland community, composed mostly of Filipino boxing fans throughout the globe, has demonstrated its readiness to help a good cause just like what it did in giving sizeable amounts to the Bicol landslide victims last year and the Mandaue fire victims last month.

Koronadal City Mayor Fernando Miguel also chipped in P10,000 for the fund. –John Paul Jubelag and Ramil Bajo
