No less than President Arroyo has ordered the best welcome rites for the returning boxing hero who will arrive via PAL flight 103 from Los Angeles at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow.
Dodie Limcauco, who represented the President, yesterday met with Philippine Sports Commission chair Butch Ramirez, Pagcor officials as well as representatives from Solar Sports and ABS-CBN, Lupita Kashiwara and the Games and Amusements Board to discuss and iron out the best welcoming preparation to be given to Pacquiao and his entourage.
Among the things discussed during the meeting were security, the motorcade and other details with the President stressing that she wanted this to be a grand and united celebration for the entire nation.
There will be, for the first time, a street party at the Bay Walk along Roxas Boulevard with performances from different musical bands and professional singers, including the participation of "The Lettermen" as guest performers.
All Presidential itineraries will remain confidential as a matter of security. However, the Chief Executive is expected to bestow upon Pacquiao the highest presidential citation because of the pride, glory and honor that he has given to the country.
Pacquiaos career-defining win over the future Hall of Famer is now a symbol not only of unity among Filipinos, but as a model for the younger generation of Filipinos.
"It was a very important win for me because all of my countrymen were hoping for me to win, everybody supported me and I am proud to come home with this victory," said Pacquiao. Dante Navarro
