BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An early morning fire destroyed six houses and damaged five others in Brgy. 7 in this city Tuesday, police said.
Elmar Asuela, 29, sustained second-degree burns from the incident, Bacolod deputy fire marshal Inspector Publio Ploteña said.
Damaged to properties reached P500,000, BFP records showed.
Investigation conducted by Fire Officer 3 Cornelio Silva showed that the fire originated at the second floor of the residence of Asuela before razing the houses of his neighbors.
The affected families are now staying in the barangay daycare center while the Bacolod City government and the Philippine Red Cross have already sent food to the victims, Councilor Em Ang said. — (FREEMAN)
