CEBU, Philippines — Big Yellow Gym standout Rhonvex “The Body Snatcher” Capuloy guns for the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Australasian super featherweight crown as he slugs it out with grizzled veteran Jason Tinampay in the main event of “Bakbakan Uno” fight card presented by Big Yellow Promotions today (Tuesday, December 10) at the Conequip Philippines showroom along F.E. Zuellig Avenue in North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.

The slam-bang event, which will start at 6 p.m., marks the return of Big Yellow to the Cebu boxing scene after a longsome pause that started at the height of the global pandemic four years ago.

“We’re happy to be back and repackage our boxing promotion. That’s the kind of direction we want to take now,” said Big Yellow CEO Seth Tio in a press conference on Monday, December 9.

The Hinobaan, Negros Occidental-native Capuloy (11-3-3, 8KOs) will take center stage in their comeback show against the battle-tested Tinampay (14-19-2, 11KOs) from Dahogoy, Bohol.

“Dako kaayo ni nga opportunity nga miabot nako. Akong paningkamotan nga makuha nako ang kadaogan,” said Capuloy, who once vied for the WBC Far East crown but settled for a sixth round technical draw with Koran brawler ZhiGang Zhang last January 20 in Anseong, South Korea.

Capuloy though must brace for an all-out war as Tinampay vowed to do whatever it takes to fulfill his dreams of becoming a champion.

“Pila ka tuig ni nako nga gipaabot. Buhaton gyud nako ang tanan kutob sa akong mahimo aron makuha ang belt,” said Tinampay.

In the supporting bouts, Big Yellow’s Jusue “Pistolero” Bastillada will take on Paolo Fortun, while Reycar “The Machine” Auxillo and Arlando “The Dream” Senoc Jr. will lock horns with Jess Rhey Waminal and George Sedillo, respectively.

The rest of the matches feature Johnrey Labajo vs Dixon Ercillo, Taiwan’s Ming Hung Lee vs Kim Lindog, MJ Felicilda vs Ronnie Urgel, and Mark Anthony Sarino vs Norman Rusiana. — (FREEMAN)
