Lopez lalaro na sa Japan
MANILA, Philippines — Maglalaro si University of the Philippines star Francis Lopez sa Japan B.League’s Fighting Eagles Nagoya.
Dahil dito ay hindi na niya gagamitin ang natitirang tatlong taon niya sa UAAP para sa Fighting Maroons.
“Di tayo dapat malungkot dahil nakaka-proud itong gagawin ni Francis. He’s the latest proof that what we do works and our student-athletes give pride to the UP community,” wika ni UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol.
Makakasama ni Lopez sina dating UP teammates Carl Tamayo at JD Cagulangan pati sina one-time UP players Javi at Juan Gomez de Liaño bilang Asian imports sa professional leagues sa Japan o Korea.
Ang 6-foot-6 forward ay dating UAAP Rookie of the Year at nagtala ng mga averages na 10.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists at 1.3 blocks sa nakaraang UAAP season.
Ang kanyang krusyal na triple sa Game 3 ng Finals ang tumulong sa UP na angkinin ang ikalawang titulo sa huling apat na taon.
“Thank you to the UP Fighting Maroons and the UP Community for the wonderful two years. I will never forget it. UP Fight forever,” wika ni Lopez.
Idedepensa ng Maroons ang kanilang UAAP title sa likod nina Harold Alarcon, Gerry Abadiano, Jacob Bayla at Rey Remogat.
