MANILA, Philippines — Kinumpirma ng Malacañang na 11 Filipino na ang nasawi sa madugong trahedya sa Vancouver, Canada matapos araruhin ng isang SUV ang pagdiriwang ng Lapu-Lapu Festival nitong Abril 27.

Ayon kay Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro, pinakabatang biktima ay 5-taong gulang at ang pinakamatanda ay 65-anyos.

Kasabay nito, nagpahayag din ng pagdadalamhati at kalungkutan si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dahil sa nangyaring trahedya at tiniyak na hindi pababayaan ng gobyerno ang mga biktima.

Sa pahayag ng Pangulo, inatasan na niya ang diplomats at staff sa Vancouver para magbigay ng tulong sa mga biktima.

“I am completely  shattered to hear about the terrible incident during Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party in Vancouver BC, Canada,” ayon pa kay Pangulong Marcos.

“As your President, and as a father, I share in your grief and your anguish. The lives lost will not be forgotten. The Filipino people stand together in mourning, in prayer, and in unwavering support. We will do every in our power to bring comfort, to bring help, and to honor their memory with action,” pahayag pa ng Pangulo.

Hawak na ng mga otoridad ang suspek na si Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, at kinasuhan na rin ng eight counts ng ­second degree murder.
