MMDA chief inireklamo sa QC court ng FAP

MANILA, Philippines - Nagsampa ng reklamo kahapon  ang pamunuan ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) sa QC Prose-cutor’s Office  laban sa  Metropolitan Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Committee na pinamumunuan ni MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino gayundin ang National Cinema Association of the Philippines (NCAP)  dahilan sa anilay maling  pangangasiwa  sa amusement tax   ng film fest sa bansa.

Sa 13 pahinang petisyon, iginiit ng FAP na dapat ipalabas ng MMFF ang  P82,787,440.79  na balanse sa amusement tax na kinita sa mga pelikula sa ginawang film fest mula taong 2002 hanggang 2008 na may halagang P216,610,347.69 para mapakinabangan ng kanilang mga benepisyaryo.

Nabatid sa naturang pondo ay 60.40 percent o P130,383,333.33 lamang ang naipalabas ng MMFF para sa mga benepisyaryo batay sa report ng Commission on Audit (COA)

Ayon kay  Atty. Ariel Inton, abogado ng  FAP at representative ni FAP Director General Leo Martinez, may ibat ibang paglabag sa batas at regulasyon sa naganap na disbursement at pamamahala ng naturang pondo at hindi naman nakatanggap ng pondo mula sa nalikom na pondo mula sa amusement tax ang mara-ming bilang ng mga benepisyaryo nito.

“It is about time the MMDA return the management of the festival to the people of the film industry who has the expertise running the film fest to avoid this kind of monetary problems affecting the beneficiaries. Let us just leave the MMDA to control traffic,’’ pagwawakas ni Inton.
