Kaya ng Pinoy sa Winter Olympics

MANILA, Philippines — Tiwala ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino na kaya ng Pilipinas na makapag-uwi ng medalya sa Winter Olympic Games.

Sinabi ni Tolentino na nagliliwanag na ang daan sa inaasam na medalya sa Winter Games matapos masungkit ng Team Philippines ang gintong medalya sa 9th Asian Winter Olympics na ginanap sa Harbin, China.

Napasakamay ng Phi­lippine men’s curling team ang ginto matapos itarak ang 5-3 panalo laban sa South Korea sa finals ng men’s curling team event.

Binubuo ang tropa nina Marc Pfister, Enrico Pfister, Alan Frei, Christian Haller at Benjo Delarmente.

“The path is clearer toward our first medal in the Winter Olympics,” ani Tolentino.

Ang Pilipinas ang ka­una-unahang Southeast Asian country na nakapagbulsa ng ginto sa Asian Winter Games kung saan nagkasya lamang sa tanso ang Thailand sa Harbin.

Nais ni Tolentino na masundan ang impresibong kampanya ng Team Philippines sa Summer Olympic Games.

Matatandaang naibi­gay ni weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz ang kauna-unahang ginto ng Pilipinas sa Olympics noong 2020 Tokyo Games sa Japan.

Nasundan ito ng dou­ble-gold output ni gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo na naghari sa men’s floor exercise at men’s vault sa 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I always believe the impossible can be achieved. We did it in Tok­yo and Paris, and it may not come in Italy next year, but I believe we’re on the right track,” ani Tolentino.

Gaganapin sa Milan, Italy ang 2026 Winter Olympics kung saan hangad ni Tolentino na magkaroon ng maraming Pilipino na magkwalipika.
