Macado may tsansang maka-gold sa Indonesian President’s Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Magtatangkang humirit ng gintong medalya si national mainstay Ramel Macado matapos umabante sa finals ng 23rd Indonesian President’s Cup na ginaganap sa Labuan Bajo sa Indonesia.

Impresibo ang pagpasok ni Macado sa finals nang magtala ito ng first-round knockout win laban kay Gayan Indika Bandara ng Sri Lanka sa semifinals ng men’s light flyweight (49kg) division.

Agresibong sinimulan ni Macado ang laban dahilan upang hindi makaporma ang Sri Lankan bet at tuluyang itigil ang laban, may dalawang minuto at apat na segundo lamang sa orasan.

Makakasagupa ni Macado sa gold-medal match si Neeraj Swami ng India na pinataob si Indonesian No.1 Kornelis Kwangu Langu sa pamamagitan ng 4-1 split decision win (30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27, 28-29).

Nagkasya naman sa tansong medalya sina Crissan Paul Diacamos, Jun Milardo Ogayre at Claudine Veloso matapos matalo sa kani-kanyang semifinal bouts.

Yumuko si Diacamos kay Ramish Rahmani ng Afghanistan via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 28-29) sa men’s flyweight (52 kg.) habang lumasap ng dikit na 2-3 split decision loss si Ogayre laban kay Bidhuri Guarav ng India (28-29, 28-26, 28-29, 29-28, 29-28) sa men’s bantamweight (56 kg.).

Natalo naman si Veloso kay April Franks ng Australia sa women’s flyweight (48-51 kg.) sa pamamagitan ng unanimous decision loss (27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 27-30 , 27-30).
