 The best of Thailand

In an effort to boost the tourism industry in Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with SM Megamall, organized a three-day long Thailand Fair at the Atrium of SM Megamall.

Director of TAT for the Philippines Porntip Makornpan, together with director for ASEAN and the Asia Pacific of TAT in Bangkok Passakorn Supannapan, welcomed guests. Makornpan said, “The annual Thailand Grand Sales is on-going and all the hotels in Thailand are offering promotions. It is value for money to travel to Thailand now.”

Manning the TAT information booth was local representative of TAT in Manila Dave de Jesus joined by assistant director of TAT in Singapore Inthira Wuthisomboon and Elaine Seah who flew in from Singapore. Officials from the Royal Thai Embassy here in Manila namely Minister Counsel Chakorn Suchiva, Air and Defense Attache Nathpong Viriyakupt, Naval Attache Wilers Smabut with wife Chongkol, Minister Suree Jirattikankul of the Thai Commerce, along with Panalee Choosri and Pakprapai Thongtiravong, were present as well.

Among the many Thai exhibitors, one of the most popular booths was that of Thai Airways International headed by general manager for the Philippines Nivat Chantarachoti.

At the center of the Atrium was the Thai pavilion with various Thai art demonstrations including fruit and vegetable carving, Thai cooking, umbrella painting and even the popular Thai massage.   Guests were entertained by traditional Thai dancers flown in from Chiang Mai.

This event was supported by SM Megamall and VP for marketing of the SM Group Millie Dizon.
