ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro said the DepEd is facing a tough challenge in catching up with the bullish program of the city government here in establishing more school buildings.
This as Luistro led with Mayor Celso Lobregat in unveiling a three-story with 23 classrooms school building in Tugbungan Elementary School and inspecting several other ongoing constructions of school buildings of almost the same size in the city Tuesday. He said it is only in this city that a school has more classrooms than the number of teachers.
“I’m happy with the strong support of the city government which is not waiting for the DepEd to counterpart its funds for putting school buildings,” Luistro said.
The school building he inaugurated was worth P21.2-million and was “done with local flavor.”
Luistro said the building which appeared to be cheaper but bigger would than other places in the country would be used as their benchmark in construction similar school building project.
