MANILA, Philippines — This early, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is already making preparations for the 2028 presidential elections.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the poll body is set to start in November a two-year registration for overseas voters in connection with the national and local elections in 2028.

“We will start in November and run until 2027 for the registration of overseas voters in relation to the 2028 presidential elections,” Garcia said.

All Filipino citizens living abroad are eligible to register as overseas voters, provided they are not disqualified by law and are at least 18 years old on Election Day.

There were 1,241,690 registered overseas voters in the May 2025 elections.

As for the voter registration for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, Garcia said the Comelec opted to reschedule this from July to October this year.

Comelec said the voter registration would be held from the last week of October to July 2026.
