Disgruntled employee eyed in House exec’s slay

MANILA, Philippines — A disgruntled former employee of a slain official of the House of Representatives is a person of interest in his murder, the Quezon City Police District said yesterday.
QCPD public information officer Maj. Jennifer Gannaban said Mauricio Pulhin and his family was set to file criminal cases against their former employee prior to the killing.
Gannaban did not reveal other details about the person of interest except that he used to work for Pulhin.
She did not reply when asked in a Viber message about the specific offense the person committed against the Pulhins.
Pulhin, chief of technical staff of the House committee on ways and means, was shot dead during the birthday party of his seven-year-old daughter on Sunday.
Based on closed-circuit television footage, police said the suspects were last seen somewhere in Caloocan City.
Gannaban said police have a photograph of the gunman, based on CCTV footage.
Once probers identify the suspect, Gannaban said police would release the picture so the public can provide leads on where the assailant is hiding.
Investigators are exploring all possible angles, Gannaban said, adding that the victim’s family have no enemies except for their former employee.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III said probers are pursuing leads, but he declined to go into details so as not to jeopardize the progress of the investigation.
