LPA off Romblon unlikely to intensify into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted off Romblon is not expected to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said that although the LPA was unlikely to intensify, it was expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over some parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Bicol.
State meteorologists said the easterlies, or warm wind coming from the Pacific, would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Aurora, Isabela and Quirino as well as partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Localized thunderstorms are also expected across other parts of Luzon, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and the Cordilleras.
No gale warning has been raised, but meteorologists said moderate to rough seas may occur in areas affected by thunderstorms.
