MANILA, Philippines — During the election gun ban from Jan. 12 to June 11, the Manila Police District arrested 565 people for unauthorized gun possession in the city.

The MPD said 561 of those arrested were civilians, three were security guards and one from an undisclosed law enforcement agency.

According to data released on June 12, the MPD confiscated 553 small firearms, five light weapons, four explosives and other ordnances as well as two gun replicas and 730 bullets in the course of 557 operations.

The MPD reported that 3,939 election checkpoints were put up during the election period, wherein 3,331 were categorized as strategic, 600 were border control and eight were spot or mobile.
