MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued eight crewmen of a fishing boat that experienced engine trouble in waters off Zambales.

In a statement, the PCG said its BRP Cabra assisted the fishing boat John John 3 despite adverse sea conditions and poor visibility on Sunday.

The multi-role response vessel towed the fishing boat for 12 hours from Palauig Point to Subic Fish Port.

“The bad weather and tough sea condition snapped the towing line twice, but our brave coast guardians on board BRP Cabra carried on with their mission of ensuring safety of lives and properties at sea,” said Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, PCG commandant.
