MANILA, Philippines — Following her victory in the midterm elections, reelected Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has promised to “give everything” during her third and final term as mayor.

“I assure every QCitizen that the next three years will be the best of my life as a public servant,” Belmonte said following her proclamation on Tuesday.

“I will give everything I’ve got – my energy, my passion, my dedication – to fulfill the dreams of our people for a better, more inclusive and more progressive Quezon City,” she added.

Based on the official canvass, Belmonte received 1,030,730 votes, representing 95.56 percent of the total votes cast in Quezon City.

It was the first time in the country’s history that a candidate for a city mayor received over a million votes.

Belmonte said she would channel the trust and support she received to further improve and strengthen programs, projects and social services to residents.

Among her commitments include doubling the number of city scholars, increasing social pensions, expanding livelihood assistance, improving health care access and upgrading public safety infrastructure.

Belmonte also noted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the redevelopment of the Quezon Memorial Circle and Amoranto Sports Complex, completion of various barangay halls and evacuation centers as well as the construction of a government center in Novaliches and the Tandang Sora Hospital.

“As I enter my final term, my only goal is to leave behind a Quezon City that’s more empowered, more resilient and more compassionate,” she said.
