MMDA hauls 1.44 tons of poll trash

The Marikina City Environmental Management Office on May 13, 2025 has started collecting truck loads of campaign materials used by candidates during the 2025 midterm elections.

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 288 bags of trash such as sample ballots, plastic bottles and food packs were collected in the metropolis on election day, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
The haul was equivalent to 1.44 tons of trash.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded all candidates – both winners and losers – to take down their campaign posters.
Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said candidates are mandated to remove campaign materials within five days after the elections.
