MANILA, Philippines — Almost 6,000 jobseekers were hired on the spot (HOT) during the Labor Day job fairs, the Department of Labor and Employment reported yesterday.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the DOLE recorded 5,782 HOTS out of the over 37,000 people who registered for the job fairs held in 70 sites across the country.

The top HOTS positions are production operators, production workers, cashiers, service crews, baggers, teachers, housekeeping workers, store clerks and sales associates.

Laguesma noted that there were 12,323 jobseekers who availed themselves of the one-stop shop documentary services from the National Bureau of Investigation, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Bureau of Immigration, Philippine Statistics Authority, Pag-IBIG, Philippine National Police and the Department of Health.

Up to 1,968 job applicants availed themselves of the skills enhancement provided by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Around 260 job applicants received livelihood assistance.

Laguesma said the DOLE would hold another job fair on June 12 to mark Independence Day.

Data from the DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment showed that 11,876 people took advantage of the 39,366 local and overseas job vacancies at different job fairs initiated by the government since January,

Today, DOLE is launching the Trabaho para sa Bayan Plan 2025-2034 as part of the government’s efforts to provide more quality employment for Filipinos.
