Rainshowers flood parts of Metro

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy to intense rainshowers caused flooding in some areas in Metro Manila yesterday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said rains with lightning and strong winds started at 2:33 p.m. in Caloocan, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon and Navotas.
According to PAGASA, the rains were caused by thunderstorms and easterlies currently affecting Luzon.
Heavy rainfall was also recorded in Rodriguez and San Mateo, Rizal; Obando, San Jose del Monte and Norzagaray, Bulacan; General Nakar, General Luna, Lopez and Macalelon, Quezon; Nasugbu, Batangas; Maragondon, Ternate, Magallanes, Tagaytay, Mendez, Alfonso and General Emilio Aguinaldo in Cavite, and San Luis in Pampanga.
Weather forecasters said moderate to heavy rains were also experienced in Laguna and Zambales.
The rains lasted two hours, according to the state weather bureau.
Flashfloods were reported along Elliptical Road in Quezon City.
