Bong Go secures solo lead in survey
MANILA, Philippines — Ahead of the midterm elections on May 12, Sen. Bong Go has once again emerged as the front runner in a survey of senatorial candidates.
Based on Tangere’s non-commissioned survey conducted from April 22 to 25, Go received voter preference of 59.3 percent.
He placed in the top three in all 17 regions nationwide.
ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo came in second with 55.1-percent voter preference, driven by voters from Northern and Central Luzon.
Statistically tied at third place are Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, Ben Tulfo and Sen. Bong Revilla.
Ben Tulfo was more popular with millennial and gen-z voters compared to his brother Erwin, who was favored by older respondents.
Dela Rosa made a significant leap in the survey with an increase of more than 10 percent in voter preference.
Statistically tied at fifth to sixth places is former Senate president Tito Sotto, with 45-percent voter preference.
Four candidates are statistically tied in the seventh to 10th places: Sen. Pia Cayetano (41.5 percent); former interior secretary Benhur Abalos (40.6 percent); Sen. Lito Lapid (40.3 percent), and former senator Panfilo Lacson (39.2 percent).
Rounding up the top 12 are former senator Manny Pacquiao with voter preference of 36.3 percent and Sen. Francis Tolentino who got 35-percent voter preference, after posting a notable increase in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
Following the endorsement by Vice President Sara Duterte, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar registered a two percent increase in voter preference (statistically tied at 11th to 13th rank with 34.5 percent).
Sen. Imee Marcos gained a 3.75 percent increase in voter preference (statistically tied at 12th to 18th place with 33.5 percent).
The Tangere survey used a mobile-based respondent application with 2,400 participants and a plus/minus margin of error of 1.96 percent.
