Fire hits Makati restaurant

MANILA, Philippines — A possible electrical malfunction at the stockroom of a Makati restaurant caused a fire early yesterday, destroying over P1.6 million worth of property.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that fire broke out  at around 1:30 a.m. at Pete Chel’s Bulalo House, located on the ground floor of the five-story EGI 2 Condominium in Barangay La Paz.

Firefighters completely extinguished the blaze before 2:30 a.m.

Eugene Clavejo, a night duty watchman at La Paz barangay hall, told reporters that all the building’s tenants were safely evacuated from the condominium.

The barangay rescue team attended to two mothers and two children who complained of suffocation.

There were no casualties.
