Cops kill ‘coddler’ of criminals in Maguindanao del Norte shootout

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A police team shot dead an alleged coddler of drug peddlers, thieves and criminals in Datu Blah Sinsuat town in Maguindanao del Norte on Good Friday.
According to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region Police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Norsaidie Tato was killed in a brief shootout with members of the police, CIDG and the Navy’s 5th Marine Battalion in Barangay Meti.
The team was in the area to serve an arrest warrant on Tingao Tato Titinago, who is wanted in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat for attempted murder.
However, Tato allegedly prevented them from serving the warrant and provoked a gunfight. Titinago managed to run during the exchange of gunfire.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Public Affairs Office of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division tagged both Tato and Titinago as terrorists, owing to their reported links with groups fomenting hatred toward non-Muslims.
