Valenzuela boosts emergency response
MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Valenzuela has acquired 33 new rescue boats and two mobile water filtration trucks to strengthen efforts in disaster response.
The initiative was launched on Feb. 15 as part of Valenzuela’s 27th cityhood anniversary celebration.
Mayor Wes Gatchalian led the turnover ceremony, emphasizing the city’s proactive approach to disaster resilience.
The rescue boats made of fiber material were distributed to each of the city’s 33 barangays, to enhance emergency response during floods and storms.
Each boat is equipped with two paddles and two life jackets, ensuring safer rescue operations.
The city’s disaster risk reduction and management office acquired two mobile water filtration trucks, each capable of holding up to 1,000 liters of water.
These trucks will be deployed to evacuation centers and communities during disasters, the city’s public information office said.
